100g · 400mSmooth, soft, and beautifully balanced, this Australian superwash merino is a versatile fingering-weight yarn designed for both everyday wear and delicate, detailed projects.
Spun from fine Australian merino, it has a gentle elasticity and a clean stitch definition that makes it perfect for lace, colourwork, and intricate textures. The superwash treatment allows for easy care while keeping the fibre soft and comfortable against the skin.
One 100g skein (400m) is ideal for shawls, scarves, socks, and lightweight garments, while multiple skeins work beautifully for sweaters, cardigans, and dresses.
This base takes dye exceptionally well, producing rich, luminous colours with beautiful depth — making it one of our favourite bases for Butterfly’s hand-dyed palettes.
Recommended needle size:
2.25–4.0 mm
Use smaller needles for socks and firm fabrics, or larger needles for airy, drapey garments.

Because of this, subtle variations in colour, tone, and intensity are part of their character and should be expected.-
Colour variation:
Each dye batch is different. Even the same colourway will vary slightly from one batch to another. -
Colour bleeding:
Some hand-dyed yarns may release a small amount of excess dye, especially in darker or highly saturated colours. We recommend washing separately the first time in cool water. -
Screen display:
Colours may appear slightly different depending on your screen, lighting, and device settings.
These variations are not flaws — they are what make hand-dyed yarns alive, expressive, and truly one of a kind.
