Luxury Hand-Spun Fibres Collection
A celebration of the world’s rarest and most exquisite natural fibres — spun slowly by hand, just as they deserve to be.
This collection features four exceptional fibres, each chosen for its beauty, rarity, and extraordinary feel:
Pure Cashmere — Hand Spun
Incredibly soft, light, and warm, pure cashmere is one of the most luxurious fibres in the world. When hand-spun, it retains its natural loft and silky touch, creating yarns that feel almost weightless against the skin.
Pure Raccoon — Hand Spun
Rare and richly warm, raccoon fibre has a naturally fluffy, cloud-like texture and exceptional insulation. Hand spinning preserves its soft halo and depth, producing yarns that are both visually striking and wonderfully cosy.
Pure Yak — Hand Spun (Tibetan Source)
Our yak fibre is specially sourced from Tibetan yaks, raised in high-altitude, pristine environments. The extreme climate gives the fibre its unique warmth, softness, and deep natural character. We custom-order this fibre exclusively for Butterfly, making it one of the rarest bases in our studio.
Pure Alpaca — Hand Spun
Smooth, warm, and beautifully drapey, alpaca fibre has a gentle natural sheen and remarkable softness. When hand-spun, it creates yarns that flow effortlessly and feel luxuriously comfortable to wear.
Important Notes for Hand-Spun Yarns
All of our hand-spun yarns are spun slowly and individually by hand. Because of this, they naturally have variations in thickness, texture, and twist — this is not a defect, but part of their beauty and character.
You may also notice occasional joins or splices, which are completely normal in hand-spun yarns. These yarns are made from raw, minimally processed luxury fibres, so a strong natural fibre scent is to be expected, especially when the skeins are first opened. This will soften and fade after airing and washing.
Weight & Size
Raccoon hand-spun is sold as 50g skeins, but priced as two skeins = 100g
All other fibres (Cashmere, Yak, Alpaca) are sold as 100g skeins
Most of our hand-spun yarns fall between fingering and aran weight, with an average yardage of approximately 300–400m per 100g, depending on fibre and spinning style.
Recommended Needle Size
3.75–5.0 mm
(Adjust as needed depending on the yarn’s thickness and your desired fabric.)
Each skein is truly one of a kind — made for makers who value texture, character, and the quiet luxury of something shaped entirely by human hands.
Exquisite Hand-Spun Yarns in Cashmere, Yak, Raccoon & Alpaca
Each skein in this collection is spun slowly and thoughtfully by hand, allowing the fibres to retain their natural texture, loft, and personality.
Unlike mill-spun yarns, hand-spun fibres breathe, bloom, and move in a way that feels alive — every skein is a one-of-a-kind piece of fibre art. These yarns are perfect for special garments, heirloom pieces, and makers who value rarity, story, and true craftsmanship.
